Nov 19, 2023 · We got home to find that the pipe had hit our Redwood tree, and the group responsible for the replacement had dug at the base of the tree, removing some of the roots 4"+ in diameter to re-direct the pipe. Now they have cut roots around 1/2 of the tree to re-direct the pipe back to the street.

Oct 4, 2023 · They are excellent choices as shade trees just not something that will grow particularly fast. Red maple and red oak are one of the faster growers, around 30 years each. I have a sugar maple and a tulip (poplar) growing ~40-50 ft apart, planted at the same time less than 20 years ago.

Jan 30, 2005 · Planted a bunch of seedlings 20 years ago (20 or so Coast RW & G. Sequoia (2YO bare root from Mossyrock nursery), and hundreds of DFir. Moved some of them when trunks were still under 3/4" or so (Seattle area) and had 100% success with all 3 species (except the ones the doggone deer ate all the bark off).
