Jun 19, 2015 · Using a gate on your mic input would help. A gate in a nutshell, sets a signal level for the microphone to pick up. So when you aren't talking into the mic, it should essentially kill the mic signal until you talk again. Voice Meter Banana has a simple Gate you can use. It also has a compressor with will "thicken" your sound as well.

In Windows 10 the control is integrated right into the icon's fly-out - look for an "arrow shape" (chevron) at the top to the side of the audio source listed and you should get a menu which allows you to choose a different output source.
