The Geminids — the year's best, last and least talked about multicolored meteor shower — has started and could see up to 150 "shooting stars" in an hour in December.

The Geminid meteor shower begins Tuesday as one of the year's best meteor showers. The Geminids start in mid-November and run through Christmas Eve. Peak activity happens Dec. 13 and 14, when 120 meteors per hour are possible under the right conditions.

Saturday and Sunday nights provide a good opportunity to catch the Leonid meteor shower, considered one of the major showers each year. It's been a big week for skywatchers. The Northern Taurids peaked Tuesday and the November "Beaver Moon" peaked Friday.
