Stock Market News: Dow Rallied on Election Day
The Nikkei Stock Average rose by 1.1%, finishing at 38474.90. Among the gainers in the electronics segment, Sony climbed 2.02%, NEC increased by 3.04% and Canon gained 1.6%. In the banking sector, Mizuho Financial rose by 1.1%, while Mitsubishi UFJ Financial added 0.2%.
The stock had a wild session during market hours after trading was halted several times due to volatility. Shares somewhat recovered from steeper losses but still closed down a little over 1%.
