The Kansas City Chiefs have found the star receiver they’ve been looking for, but it’s not Cooper Kupp. While some believed the Chiefs would be a perfect suitor for Kupp after reports surfaced of the Rams shopping him, they went in a different direction by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday morning.

Several years removed from his career-best 1,947-yard, 16-touchdown campaign in 2021, Kupp currently has 18 catches for 147 yards and one touchdown through two games. As a widely-beloved fan favorite and a member of Sean McVay’s first draft class, Kupp being dealt before the NFL trade deadline admittedly feels like a long shot.

The Rams and the the Chiefs discussed Cooper Kupp, but the Super Bowl champs needed to trade with a team that was willing to take on a large chunk of the salary and didn’t want to give up high picks. Tennessee is the team willing to play ball.
