Utah Hockey Club released its first drop of official team jerseys Friday at Delta Center — and set an NHL record in the process.

Fans lined up at the team store, and Utah set the Delta Center single-day sports-event sales record. It beat the previous record -- set at its inaugural game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 8, when other merchandise was available -- by 48 percent. Delta Center has been the home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz since 1991.

The Utah Hockey Club’s 6-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Monday night had a striking resemblance to their 4-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday. The Washington Capitals visit the Utah Hockey Club on Monday evening after Alexander Ovechkin recorded a hat trick in a 5-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Utah Hockey Club jerseys will be available to the public on Friday. Fans can purchase the jerseys both in the team store and online at shop.nhl.com. The website will go live at 8 a.m. MDT and the team store will open at noon. Season-ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend a presale at the team store from 8 a.m. to noon.

While an official team name remains in the works, that did not stop Salt Lake City locals from snatching up merchandise of the Utah Hockey Club. On Friday, the Utah franchise made jerseys available for purchase by the public for the first time this season.
