North Carolina Democratic Gov.-elect Josh Stein's veto could become more effective than outgoing Gov. Roy Cooper's stamp has been recently, should the margin in a legislative district election hold.

Republicans will remain in power in both houses of the North Carolina legislature when lawmakers convene in January, but they appear to have lost their veto-proof supermajority in the state House after Tuesday’s election.

After a contentious gubernatorial race has come to a close, Josh Stein will take over for Gov. Roy Cooper in the executive mansion.
