The next Alfa Romeo Giulia was set to ditch ICE for electric power, but a softening market may see a dramatic U-turn

Alfa Romeo might not be going fully electric just yet. The Italian brand had been at the pointy end of the Stellantis electrification plan, and in 2021 it was set to be fully electric in its major markets by 2027.

Alfa Romeo could be keeping gas engines in its catalogue for longer than expected with its Giulia and Stelvio models.

With the Italian automaker experiencing its worst sales in years and mounting pressure to perform from Stellantis, its future in the U.S. is unclear.

Alfa Romeo had planned to go EV-only in 2027, but now it says customer demand could see petrol power sticking around for longer.
