The Big Lots store in the Indian Hills Plaza in Union Township is among several across the country that are closing after the owners filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court in Delaware Sept. 9. The Mt. Pleasant location is set to close Dec. 22, and the Saginaw store is also closing, according to various media reports.

Big Lots is closing its Franklin location as the chain continues to feel impacts from a pullback in consumer spending and soft sales.
