North Carolina man hikes 11 miles to parents after Hurricane Helene
( NewsNation) — One man trekked 11 miles to check on his parents after Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina, and he didn’t hear from them for two days. Sam Perkins said on “ NewsNation Now ” that the situation in Ashville is “dire.”
For more than three-and-a-half hours, Sam Perkins said he hiked 11 miles and 2,200 feet high to finally reach his parents' home near Spruce Pine.
