North Dakota voters defeated a measure Tuesday night that would have overhauled the state’s tax system by banning property taxes based on assessed value. Roughly 64% of ballots were cast against the proposal in early results.

Results timing: Most results are expected by noon Eastern time on Wednesday. Ballots must be postmarked by the day before the election, but those arriving after Election Day will not be counted for about two weeks.
