Kia unveiled two adventurous concepts at SEMA, the EV9 ADVNTR and the PV5 WKNDR. Both look excellent, but the adventure version of the PV5 van looks like a perfect product for modern America, filling a void never quite covered by more pedestrian commercial vans like the Ford Transit Connect.

Two concepts take the stage at Kia's booth at SEMA and prompt the possibilities with EVs as they become more common.

Futuristic, adventurous, and ready for that infamous #vanlife hashtag—that is, if this PV5 WKNDR concept van were to become real.

Kia gave the PV5 a lift along with off-road tires to create the ultimate family escape vehicle. It has a modular interior that Kia likens to a Swiss Army Knife on wheels. It includes a special “Gear Head” storage system that features an off-board, sheltered storage area for when the vehicle is stationary.

But the other is the PV5 WKNDR, a rugged off-road camper based on a forthcoming Kia electric van platform. The EV9 ADVNTR makes good use of the existing EV9's angular design, with new sections filled in with protective cladding.
