Deputies shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them in Douglas County after responding to a suicidal individual's call.

The man called Lone Tree police saying he wanted to kill himself, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. After deputies arrived at his house, Weekly said the man pointed his gun at them and they shot him.

The man, who lived in unincorporated Douglas County, called Lone Tree police early Saturday evening and said he was suicidal, Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said.
