Damage caused by Bonfire Night disorder has been left strewn across the streets of Glasgow as police launched an investigation to hunt those responsible. Officers were called to disorder on Tuesday in the Herriet Street and Albert Drive areas of Pollokshields amid a night of violence across the country.

Police officers clashed with large groups throwing fireworks, bottles and bricks and emergency service vehicles and cars. Police Scotland said the force responded to 18 incidents on Tuesday evening as part of Operation Moonbeam. Police said they had responded to “youth disorder” in the Niddrie, Sighthill and Moredun areas of Edinburgh.

Officers have been given powers to help prevent disorder during a Bonfire Night which has seen fireworks thrown at police.
