Worth a visit, lots of steps and a good walk to the cave from the car park. There is a cafe and toilets up there along with a pay point. It was 6€ each for 2 adults. Views from there and the car pa… Full review by V2913DPedwarda

I would love to join someone, who is going there from 28.7 - 2.8, unfortunately i habe no driving license and cannot hire a car myself. Are there other ways to get there - not to the other cave - i seem not to find anything, when it comes to this one. Thank you!
A:
There are prearranged day trips from the resorts. You should be able to organise while there.

I am considering doing the "Zeus Cave & Lassithi Plateau (Safari Adventure Offroad Excursion)" guided tour through Adventure Crete Safari Tours. Is the combined tour necessary? Or would it be advisable to visit Zeus Cave only? If yes, can any of you kindly recommend a guided tour or way, to get to ZEUS CAVE? Would we need to hire a 4x4? How steep is the hike/climb to Zeus Cave? Would we need to take the same route going down? And what clothing is recommended?

In my experience Zeus cave is usually included in tours with other sights. I did not see anyone advertising tours on there own. You travel up a made up road to a coach /car park with shops and cafes. There are two routes up to the cave. Advice is to take the left hand path as the steps to the right are worn and can be slippery. It is the same route up and down. The path winds up so is not too steep. It turns a bit rocky at the top. Normal clothing is fine but sturdy shoes recommended. Take bottled water if the weather is warm. While in the area be sure to visit Keras Kardotissas monastery not far from the cave.

Is it suitable for a 3 year old and 5 year old? Both are reasonably good walkers.

I saw some children. One way is shorter and steeper. It took me 50.min or so as an adult walking alone to go up the steeper rocky side ,down the 145 steps ,up another 145 steps then down the paved side. You decide cuz you know your children. Also not sure how impressed theyd be by the stalictytes etc.
